Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (MdVLA) and PNC Bank are teaming up with Maryland Citizens for the Arts to bring a free workshop on legal and financial literacy for artists to Easton, MD., on Monday, May 6. “Mind Your Business,” a workshop aimed at giving artists some of the essential legal and business information they need to run a successful arts business, will be held at the Avalon Theatre, 40 East Dover St., Easton, MD 21601 on Monday, May 6, from 12:30 to 4:30. The workshop will feature speakers addressing a number of issues that face artists trying to make a living from their work, including copyright protection; insuring their work, workspace and tools; and budgeting and cash flow when income is irregular. The session will include presentations and group sessions with: PNC community development and business bankers; Cynthia Sanders, Esq of Ober|Kaler; Bob Middleton, Director of the Arts Insurance Program at Maury Donnelly & Parr; and Colleen Pleasant Kline of Miles & Stockbridge.
